August work session agenda is now available. For details click here
As many of you realize, the summer months means a summer meeting schedule for City Council (CC) – we have ONE work session and ONE council meeting. This curtailment in meetings is a recipe for naturally “longer” than usual council meetings.
On July 14, 2014, the CC met for 3 hours 36 minutes and 29 seconds. I want to take the time to thank all of the City of Newburgh residents who appreciated the duality of last month’s intervention which allowed the instant translation (per a request from the floor) starting with resolution 169 and and ending with resolution 187 – which averaged about 37 seconds per resolution, added less than 15 minutes to the meeting and provided instant result to a request from the audience.
Going forward, there is a commitment on my part to translate the written agenda portion to Spanish for any of our spanish speaking community members who come to the council meetings and/or who view the agenda online.
To the many other individuals who contacted me expressing your outrage to the translation, I only ask that you reflect on your desire to truly stabilize and improve our community and ask yourself if this lofty goal can be achieved if WE are not engaging ALL members of our 3.8 square community?
Spanish agenda will be posted for the council meeting scheduled for August 11, 2014. Para leer esto en español por favor oprima aqui.
